LinkedIn

Alex sent me an invite to become a part of LinkedIn today. It’s a relatively new site that is kind of like Friendster and other social type sites, but it is geared specifically to the professional scene, and the “network” that so many strive to have.

I’ve sent it on to a few other people tht I know and now have a whopping 4 people in my network. Hopefully it will catch on, and seems to be doing rather well thus far with only being a few days old.

There is an interesting discussion going on over here that even the CEO of LinkedIn has joined in on. It is cool to note that several bugs or features were mentioned in the discussion that have since been added or resolved. So it looks like they have some pretty good response time on improving the site.

Halo 2 Details

I don’t play my Xbox much anymore… just have it around for when friends come over (which is like never…). But I am excited for the pending arrival of Halo 2, which now appears to have a launch date of November 9th… woohoo!!

/. linked to a bunch of articles on recent info that has come out. New videophone service, the first multiplayer hands-on review, and some new screenies from the map discussed in the multiplayer review.

Can’t wait to give it a try… but guess I do have to wait 6 more months or so… *sigh*

My Brothers Knee

Well my brother Brett called me last night to ask my opinion about something.

A little history… before I got into the wonderful world of computers and the internet, I was going into Sports Medicine. I spent a few years in High School and College as a “student trainer” helping with the sports teams at each school. I really loved what I was doing, and had fully planned on going into it, but then I got engaged and decided that I actually needed money in my future. I thought “hey, I like comptuers” and knew how to do websites, so I dropped Sports Med (not necessarily willingly) and went into computers. Since then, I always try to help when I see someone get hurt in a game, or wherever to try and use what I learned during those years and slow down the memory loss.

That being said… what I learned is fairly rusty, but apparently accessible. Brett decided to fall down the stairs after a LAN party and twisted his knee. He had already gone to the doc but hadn’t really been given instructions on what to do going forward… so he called his wonderful brother to try and access that fading memory to see what he should do.

Twas kinda fun rememebring all the tests to see what was wrong with the knee, what everything is called around in there, and what potential issues there may be. I passed along all of the above information, but really enjoyed strolling down memory lane. So thanks for injuring yourself Brett!! We’ll have to do it again some time!

Oh… and what he hurt was his LCL, or Lateral Collateral Ligament. The doc said it was just a mild sprain and all should be good.

Hello???

Well… I’m finally going to try this blogging thing, and see if it’s all it’s cracked up to be. Still have to get things organized with all the categories and links and such, and get me my own purdy look and feel. But hopefully I won’t take too long to do so. No clue how you would have found this page since I’ve never really used it or linked to it before, but come back every now and then and see if I’ve actually updated anything.
